Farida Ali
Programme Officer, Office for Public Partnerships, UNICEF

 

Ms. Farida Ali is currently Programme Officer in the Office for Public Partnerships at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) at its headquarters in New York. She is responsible for providing leadership in strategic planning with respect to UNICEF’s work with Religious Groups, Religious NGOs and with Inter-Governmental Organizations.

Ms. Ali has had a fulfilling career with UNICEF. Starting in 1990, she served as an officer in the World Summit for Children Secretariat, and subsequently in the Division of Information, Division of Public Affairs, Office of United Nations Affairs and External Relations, Programme Division and the Division of Policy and Planning. Following this, she has been assigned to the new Office for Public Partnerships for constituency relations.

In 2002, Ms. Ali was centrally involved in the UN Special Session on Children, attended by 70 world leaders and thousands of child rights activists and civil society leaders.

Ms. Ali is a member of the International Governing Board of the World Conference on Religions for Peace (WCRP), as well as a member of the Global Forum of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC).

In recognition of her contribution to harnessing the resources of religious communities for the fulfillment of children’s rights and needs, Ms. Ali is a member of Strathmore’s “Who’s Who “for 2004-2005.

In addition, she is a Director of the All Pakistan Women’s Association, New York Chapter and a member and former President of the Islamic Heritage Society.

Ms. Ali is a citizen of Pakistan. She received her higher education in Pakistan, Canada and the United States.
