Twenty nine participants participated in the training, including teachers, NGO workers, CSO workers and trainers. GENEVA, Switzerland – Early November, the Sarvodaya Shramadana movement, Sri Lanka's largest people's organisation and the representative of the Global Network of Religions for Children in this country, reported its use of the Learning to Live Together manual in a year-long peacebuilding programme for youth. After the 30-year armed conflict in Sri Lanka, the government in 2009 took control over all areas controlled by the rebels, but today much is still needed to develop a peaceful and united nation that truly appreciates its cultural and ethnic diversity, the report says. Children in Africa appeal for the release of the former vice-President of Iran

The children of GNRC Africa has made an appeal to the Iranian ambassador in Dar-es-Salaam to free Seyed Mohammed Ali Abtahi who has been detained for more than 50 days, faced trial and is still in detention. The children have sent a signed letter where they ask for the immediate release of Seyed Abtahi.

The Human Rights Council is holding its 10th regular session from 2 to 27 March 2009 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. During the session, reports will be presented by independent human rights experts on several issues. Arigatou International will follow the deliberations of the Human Rights Council and will co-organize a side event on the 13th of March on intercultural and interfaith education.
